The last of the Woolly Mammoths roamed the earth ~12,000 years ago. They were roughly the size of modern African Elephants. They coexisted with early humans, who used its bones and tusks for making art, tools, and dwellings, and the species was also hunted for food.  Since early humans used their bones in artwork, I like the idea that these modern earrings also use slivers of the same bones (after thousands of years of mineralization) in an artistic way.
